My Ex Walked Into My Flowershop After I Faked My Death Chaptre 07

I checked Jax out of the hospital early the next morning.

As I waited in line to pay, heard a group of older women gossiping loudly.

“Did you see the news? That Thorne CEO, Kael Thorne he called off the engagement!” “Of course I did! It’s the biggest elite merger in Westbrook Heights! They were supposed to have the wedding at the Thorne family estate next month. Invitations were already sent out!”

“Wild! This morning, Thorne Group released a statement ending the engagement and cutting all business ties with the Carters. Are they enemies now?”

I listened calmly, took the paperwork from the nurse, and led Jax outside.

Just as we stepped out of the hospital, a black Rolls–Royce Phantom pulled up in front of us.

The door opened. Kael strode Oward me.

He wore a sharp black suit, his stern eyes burning with urgency and hope.

He stopped in front of gaze locked on mine.

“Elara, did you see the news? I canceled the wedding.”

His voice was bright, like he was rushing to show off a prize.

“These past few years, I’ve taken full control of the

Thorne Group. No one can control me anymore. I’m marrying you. Nothing can stop us now.‘

He stepped forward and took my hand, his thumb brushing the back of it automatically.

“Come home with me. We’ll get married right away! I told you, you’re the only woman I’ll ever marry.”

“I couldn’t protect you before. But now I run the entire Thorne family. Anyone who says a word, I’ll erase them completely.”

I frowned and pulled my hand away sharply.

“Kael, did you listen to a single word I said last night?”

My rough voice cut through his fantasy, cold and final.

“Whether you cancel the wedding or who you marry is none of my business.”

“I’m saying this one last time. I don’t love you anymore. I don’t care about your promises. Leave me and Jax alone.”

The same group of women walked out and saw the whole thing.

One plump, kind lady named Marge Henderson couldn’t help but chime in.

“Honey, forced love never tastes sweet!

She sighed, speaking like a woman who’d lived a lifetime.

“I’ve known people my whole life. That girl has no light in her eyes for you. When she says she doesn’t love you, she means it.”

“You’re pushing too hard. It’s pathetic, and it’s upsetting her. Why bother?”

Kael’s huge frame jolted. All color drained from his face.

Just then, Jax poked his head out from behind me.

He blinked and spoke in his tiny, innocent voice.

“Yeah, mister, you should go home!”

“Mommy never changes her mind! Once she said I couldn’t eat candy because of cavities, she never bought me any, no matter how much I cried.”

“Mommy said she doesn’t want you. That means she really doesn’t want you.”

His childish words cut Kael to the core.

Kael stumbled backward. The last spark of hope in his eyes died.

His eyes glistened red. He stared at me, heartbroken.

“Elara… you really won’t give me even one chance?”

I didn’t answer. I just picked up Jax and got into a taxi without looking back.
