He Delayed Our Wedding 9 Times, I Won’t Wait for the 10th Chapter 07 (Continue)
He turned, fumbling for his phone to call Elena, only to see the dreaded “blocked” notification.
Staring out at the bustling hospital, a sudden, hollow ache opened up in Lucas’s chest.
He scoured every corner of the military hospital. He found nothing.
He’d lost Elena completely.
The realization left him gasping for breath.
He muttered to himself, “How could this happen?”
Tears suddenly welled up in his eyes as he staggered home in a daze.
For seven straight days, Lucas tried relentlessly to reach her, but failed every time.
It was only after I’d settled my mother’s affairs that a cold, sharp clarity returned to me.
I sought out Lucas-not to reconcile, but to settle accounts once and for all.
The moment he saw me, he closed the distance between us in three long strides and dragged me into a
crushing embrace. His voice trembled.
“Elena, you finally agreed to see me. I should’ve been with you these days, but I knew you didn’t want me
around.”
His grip was so tight, as if he wanted to fuse me into his body.
But all I felt was disgust.
When he calmed down slightly, I pushed him away gently and sent him the video.
The second Lucas opened it, he froze rigid, his body shaking uncontrollably.
I didn’t bother berating this selfish, cowardly bastard. I simply stated my demand,
“Give me five million dollars. It’s nothing to you.”
Half a minute later, Lucas had regained his composure, though his eyes remained red.
I wasn’t afraid he’d refuse. If he did, I’d leak the video to the entire military base.
I’d already lost my mother-I had nothing left to lose.
Even if it didn’t bring him down, the scandal alone-a major general raping a young girl-would be enough.
For the sake of his reputation, he’d surely do the math.
Lucas transferred the money on the spot.
He grabbed my arm as I tried to leave, tears streaming down his face,
“Elena, I’m so sorry. You deserve whatever you want, but don’t leave me-please?”
“We’ll get married. Tomorrow. Chloe was nothing, just a bit of fun. It’s over. I’ve ended it. She’s gone. She won’t come near you again, I promise. She’s in the past.”
I stared at him, my stomach churning with nausea.
“How can you be so shameless?”
Watching his stunned expression, I forced back my revulsion and said,
“Don’t you understand? You’re a rapist. My entire life was ruined because of you. My mother died because of
you…”
In my past life, I’d been so foolish. I’d thought he was my savior, obeying him blindly.
I’d endured his cheating repeatedly, thinking I owed him a debt of gratitude.
But in the end, he was the root of all my suffering!
I wanted to skin him alive and drain his blood.
But Lucas didn’t see it that way. Finally provoked by my words, he roared,
“Are you so innocent? Did you even think to ask for my opinion before aborting the baby? Am I not the father! Do you have any idea how devastated I am!”
Devastated? I almost laughed out loud.
In my past life, when Chloe had caused my miscarriage, Lucas hadn’t acted like this.
He’d sneered, “You slipped and fell-who’s to blame but yourself?”
Back then, he’d been so eager to defend his mistress that he’d rubbed salt into my wounds. He was no better
than a beast.
My lips twisted into something that wasn’t a smile. The contempt in my eyes deepened.
“You remember you’re the father now? Did you ever think about the baby? Couldn’t you hear what people were saying about me and our child on the base? Bastard, illegitimate, slut, homewrecker… Lucas, you have
no right to accuse me.”
