Abandoned by My Four Dons: The Mafia Princess’s Revenge chapter 06

She stood inside the operating room, wrapped in the system’s cloaking veil, the one that rendered her invisible to everyone around her.

She watched all four men freeze in place.

Alessio staggered toward her body. His hand trembled as he held his fingers beneath her nose.

There was nothing.

Every trace of color drained from his face.

“No… this isn’t… Nina, don’t do this to me.”

He stared at the scalpel buried in her chest. The finest surgeon in New York, and for the first time in his entire career, he had absolutely no idea what to do.

“Get the main trauma center ready!”

He began compressions, shouting over his shoulder at the others.

“We’re going to the hospital. Now! She needs emergency chest surgery immediately!”

“Dario, the emergency medication you made for Nina, where is it? Get it! Now!”

Rafe snapped back to reality and sprinted for the car with Matteo close behind.

Dario’s legs collapsed beneath him. He hit his knees.

His voice cracked. “Just now…” A sob ripped through him. “I used all of it on Gianna…”

He forced himself upright and stumbled toward the med room to prepare another batch.

His hands refused to stop shaking. Every vial he reached for slipped through his fingers and shattered against the floor.

“Wrong. That’s wrong. I’m still missing one… what do I do…”

At the hospital, Dr. Ethan Whitman pressed two fingers against her neck and froze mid-sentence.

“Her pupils are fixed and dilated. She’s…”

Alessio’s eyes burned red.

“Shut up! If you won’t save her, then get out of my way!”

He swallowed back his tears, steadied his trembling hands, and cut into her chest to extract the scalpel.

“Nina, hold on. I’m going to save you. I promise you that.”

Outside the operating room, Rafe turned to Matteo, his eyes raw and bloodshot.

“She’s going to be okay, right?”

“This is entirely your fault!”

Matteo’s fist connected with Rafe’s jaw before he finished speaking.

“She put a blade in her own chest! Why? If you hadn’t been sneaking around behind her back, would she have done that?”

Rafe didn’t block the hit. Didn’t move at all. He stood there and absorbed every strike as if he wanted the pain to consume him.

Dario came sprinting from the lab, shoved a nurse aside, and pushed the drug directly into her IV line in one motion.

He turned to Alessio, desperation written across his face.

“Why isn’t it working? Why isn’t anything happening?”

She stood there, invisible, watching every second of it unfold. And strangely enough, part of her almost wanted to laugh.

Of course nothing was happening.

The girl lying on that table, Nina, was already gone.

Alessio offered no response. He simply kept working, tears streaming down his face, hands pressing rhythmically into a body that had already gone cold.

As if enough force, applied long enough, could push life back into her.

They remained in the operating room for five hours.

Until Ethan finally burst in and physically pulled Alessio away from the table.

“Wake up! You’re all doctors. You know she’s gone!”

Alessio went completely still. When he finally spoke, there was almost nothing left in his voice.

“Nina…”

Dario lunged at Alessio, gripping the front of his scrubs.

“This is on you!” he screamed. “If you hadn’t taken her heart, would any of this have happened?”

A raw howl tore out of him. “Look at her face. Look how thin she’d become! How much pain was she carrying this entire time, and none of us even noticed?”

Alessio bared his teeth. “You want to talk about blame? I told you to take some blood. I never said drain her until she wanted to die!”

They collided, fists swinging, neither man attempting to stop the other.

Rafe and Matteo heard the commotion and came running in.

The moment they saw the white sheet covering her body, both men collapsed to their knees, hard.

No one knew who broke first. A single tear struck the tile floor.

Then a second.

The sobbing started low, choked, barely restrained, then tore wide open. All four men, heads buried in their hands, completely breaking down.

Alessio’s phone rang.

The screen lit up. Gianna.

The instant he answered, she was already crying.

“Nina tried to scare me. She poured fake blood everywhere, splattered it across the entire floor, and she hit me, told me it was my fault she lost so much blood…”

“It hurts so much… Alessio, Matteo, Dario, where are you…”
