Abandoned by My Four Dons: The Mafia Princess’s Revenge chapter 08

Rafe’s face had gone gray. He covered it with both hands.

“Yes… but I… I never meant for Nina to die.”

Alessio’s legs gave out beneath him. He hit the pavement.

“God… I cut out my own sister’s heart for someone who wasn’t even family.”

Dario’s eyes were bloodshot. He drove his fist into Rafe’s face.

Then a gun appeared, the barrel pressed against Rafe’s forehead.

“You piece of shit! Give me back my sister!”

“Over there! Those are the men from the screens!”

“That’s the Lazzari family… God, stay away from them!”

No one actually stepped forward.

The Lazzari name had never been just a name in this city.

A handful of bystanders went pale but raised their phones anyway, recording everything.

Others were already dialing 911, hands shaking.

“Call 911… they confessed to murder on tape!”

“The evidence is right there on the screens. Get NYPD down here now!”

Lazzari security poured out from the back of the convoy.

The bodyguards moved purely on instinct, black suits forming a wall between the crowd and the four men, hands resting on their holsters.

Alessio’s voice cut through, raw and hoarse.

“Stand down.”

“Boss…”

“I said, stand down!”

Matteo reached for his waist, slowly and deliberately, pulled out his gun, and let it drop onto the pavement.

Dario did the same.

The four of them stood there, completely hollowed out, frozen in place.

As if every layer of power the Lazzari and Bellandi names had ever given them had finally been stripped away.

They didn’t flinch, not until reporters and a few bolder members of the crowd began moving toward the cars.

“Stop!”

“Say whatever you want about us. Just don’t touch that car.”

“Please… my… our sister is in there.”

But it was already too late.

Someone pulled the door open.

Her body lay there for the entire crowd to see.

Screams ripped through the gathering.

“Oh my God. They actually killed her…”

The crowd erupted.

All four men knelt beside the car, surrounded by a hundred cameras, making no attempt to hide.

Their sobbing, the shouts from the crowd, and the rising wail of sirens all blurred into a single sound.

By the time NYPD arrived, the Lazzari security detail had already stepped back.

The officer in charge looked at the four men, then up at the Midtown billboards still playing on loop.

His expression was impossible to read.

“Alessio, Matteo, Dario, Rafe. We’ve received a massive data dump along with a posthumous statement filed under Nina’s name.”

“You’re being taken in on suspicion of illegal surgery, falsifying medical records, and homicide. Come with us.”

This time, no one pulled strings. No one called in favors.

They lowered their heads and let the officers cuff them.

At the precinct, officers played the two videos she had left behind. Alessio, Matteo, Dario, and Rafe confessed to everything, in tears, holding nothing back.

Their only request was time, enough to give her a proper burial.

The day they buried her, it poured rain.

Matteo dropped to his knees, gripping the edges of her headstone so hard his fingertips bled. He rested his forehead against the cold granite, his broad shoulders shaking violently.

“Nina, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

Dario kept wiping his eyes, but the tears wouldn’t stop. He tried to speak and couldn’t form the words.

Alessio, for once, had nothing left to say.

He placed a framed photo on the headstone with steady hands, then knelt and remained there. He didn’t get up.

A woman’s sobbing drifted over from behind them.

It was Gianna.

Rafe had brought her. She stood behind him, shoulders hunched.

“Alessio, Matteo, Dario… Rafe told me if I came here and apologized to Nina, you’d let me walk away?”

Matteo and Dario clenched their teeth. “You wish.”

They moved toward her, but Alessio held them back with one arm.

His voice was barely holding together.

“Let her. Go ahead. Apologize to Nina. Do it properly.”

Gianna dropped to her knees, putting on a dramatic show of crossing herself and bowing her head in prayer.

“Nina, I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have lied about you. I’ll take care of your heart. I’ll live a good life with your heart. I promise.”

From where she stood, invisible and unseen, she watched Gianna’s expression closely. The instant no one could see her, Gianna smirked directly at the portrait.

Her lips moved without making a sound.

“You lost, little bitch.”

She stood, brushed the dirt off her Chanel skirt, and slid the pout back into place.

“I’ve apologized to Nina.”

Alessio smiled at her, soft, almost gentle. Then he pulled a scalpel from his pocket and lunged.

“You said you were sorry? Then give Nina her heart back!”
