I Saw The Comments Calling Me Ugly And Jumped Him In The Shower Chapter 10
Cassius clung to me, crying softly all night.
When morning came, his eyes were still red.
He looked like a little girl who had been abandoned, holding my hand so tightly he wouldn’t let go.
“Delilah.”
“Yes?”
“I’m sorry.”
He tossed and turned, whimpering and groaning, until I slapped him on the back.
“Stop whining. Get up, wash your face, brush your teeth. There’s still a ton of work at the office… why do you have to nag me?”
Cassius pouted, daring not to argue.
Gone was the cold, composed man I knew. He was childish, like a boy just discovering love.
He swung out of bed, then back again, pressing me under him and kissing me over and over.
Only when both of our breathing had become ragged did he finally pull away and head into the bathroom.
I got out of bed, and this time the comments didn’t curse me out.
[So sweet. Gotta say, Delilah sure knows how to train her man.]
[No way, she didn’t do anything. Cassius came to her on his own.]
[He even took a cold shower to make himself sick. Clever boy. Serves him right to have a wife.]
[I’m here for the official couple. Does anyone else get it? This plot is completely wrecked—it’s crap. Unwatchable.]
[Then don’t watch if you don’t like it. I think it’s fine. If they love each other, go for it. Two people who love each other are the main characters. There’s no such thing as a right answer.]
I stopped looking at the comments. After all that back-and-forth, I realized that the way so many things actually played out wasn’t the same as what they had said.
At this point, nothing mattered more than my own happiness.
I could see Cassius’s affection with my own eyes.
The kind of burning passion that couldn’t be hidden.
Even if I didn’t know why he had changed, at this point, love was better than nothing.
After eating with him, he went to the office.
I met Mateo to talk about studying abroad.
He seemed to already know about the shift in my relationship with Cassius, smirking slightly. “So you’re really going to study overseas. What about Cassius?”
I shrugged. “What can he do? If he still likes me, he can wait. If not, he can find someone else. There are plenty of women in the world.”
“Haha, fair enough.”
Cassius had finally learned about my plans.
His eyes were red when he asked, “You’re going abroad for your master’s? Then what about me?”
I said the same as always. “Cassius, you can do whatever you want.”
No need to wait for me.
Back then, in order to pursue Cassius, I married him right after graduating from college.
Spent over a year as a full-time housewife, and honestly, I hadn’t been happy.
Society was competitive. Like the comments had said, if I got divorced and couldn’t find a good job, it was ultimately because I hadn’t been capable enough.
Now that I had the chance, I wanted to put in some effort myself.
Even if Cassius decided he didn’t want me later, I could still get by.
After hearing me out, Cassius turned and left, not coming back for days.
The comments had also been pretty downcast—I hadn’t had any idea what that had meant.
I decided not to guess, just focused on what I needed to do.
Once I had prepared and submitted all the paperwork, Jade suddenly asked to meet.
This was the first time we had met alone. When she saw me, she suddenly gave a strange, twisted smile. “Delilah, you know what? I think you’re kind of… shameless.”
I was stunned. I thought the FL was supposed to be sweet? Why so aggressive?
Jade sneered. “Don’t blame me for being harsh. You’re just too greedy. Before, I always knew that according to the script, Cassius should have been mine. So I didn’t care about you, thinking you’d leave when the time came.”
“But I didn’t expect you’d secretly seduce him, play tricks to make him obsessed with you, and stop him from liking me.”
I was speechless. “Technically speaking, he’s my husband. It’s only normal for him to like me.”
“But he didn’t like you. If you hadn’t barged into the bathroom trying to force yourself on him, he never would have changed his mind.”
I froze. How did she know that? Also from the comments?
The next second, Jade sneered, “You want to know how I know? It’s because ever since the plot shifted, I’ve gained the ability to read your thoughts.”
“You keep saying you’ve given up, but your actions keep provoking Cassius, making him unable to let go of you. You’re utterly shameless.”
Oh, so that’s it. So this was the privilege that comes with being the FL.
I couldn’t help licking the corner of my mouth. “So what do you think I should do?”
“Leave quietly. Stay away from Cassius. Let the plot go back to its original course.”
“And if I don’t? What then?”
For a brief moment, panic flashed across Jade’s face. “Then… the consequences will be severe.”
“How severe?”
“Just… just severe enough that you won’t be able to handle it.”
She couldn’t come up with anything else. She stood up, aiming to hit me.
I grabbed her wrist and pushed her back.
“Jade, I’ve already warned you many times. If you don’t have what it takes, then you don’t have what it takes. Don’t pin the blame on me.”
“You can’t control Cassius’s heart, and you can’t control mine. If you’re capable enough, go ahead and kill me.”
Damn. How much worse could it possibly get?
I was ready for whatever revenge she tried next.
