I Woke Up Seven Years Later And Left My Cheating Husband Chapter 15

Two hours later, the scene shifted to the Foster family estate.

Dressed in a black evening gown, Claire walked into the gala with Preston.

Tonight was a masquerade ball. Claire wore a rabbit mask, while Preston wore a lion mask.

Preston knew she preferred quiet places, so after making the necessary introductions, he brought her to the most secluded corner and sat her down.

“Call me if you need anything. I have a project to discuss.”

Claire’s attention had already shifted to the food in front of her.

She nodded perfunctorily and immediately picked up a slice of cake.

Preston shook his head in amusement and turned to leave.

Once Claire had eaten her fill, she looked up and realized the masquerade had already begun.

She turned down several people who came over to ask her to dance. Then a man wearing a lion mask

walked toward her.

He said nothing and only reached out his hand.

Claire smiled and placed her hand in Preston’s palm.

“Are you asking me to dance?”

The two of them moved onto the dance floor together.

The familiar scent of cedarwood reached Claire, making her hesitate for a moment.

She remembered that Preston’s cologne did not smell like this.

The person who liked cedarwood was…

No.

Impossible.

How could he be here?

Claire quickly forced the thought of that man out of her mind.

With a sudden whoosh, all the lights over the dance floor went dark. Claire let out a startled cry as the chaotic crowd jostled her until she lost her grip on the hand Preston had been holding so tightly.

Claire instinctively called out his name. “Preston!”

Then she was pulled into an embrace filled with that scent of cedarwood.

With a click, the lights came back on. But Claire found herself facing Preston’s familiar face across the floor Claire froze If Preston was standing over there, then who was the man holding her?

A cold sweat broke over Claire’s skin. Just as she was about to shove the man away, his low voice sounded beside her ear.

“Claire, who the hell is this Preston Foster? Some other man?”

Claire jolted and immediately kicked him. “Let go of me!”

Her foot landed squarely between his legs. The man sucked in a sharp breath of pain and clutched himself.

At the same time, the mask on his face fell away, finally revealing that strange yet familiar face.

It really was Bennett Ford.

How could he be here?

Claire’s first reaction was to step back and grab Preston’s wrist.

“He’s my ex-husband.”

Preston silently stepped in front of her, his voice calm. “I know.”

Bennett’s face went cold at the intimate movement between them, and he spoke through gritted teeth.

“Claire. So he’s Preston Foster?”

“What is he to you?”

“That has nothing to do with you.”

Claire turned to leave.

But Bennett followed her immediately. “Is he the reason you walked away so decisively? I knew it. If you

hadn’t fallen for someone else, how could you have been willing to divorce me?”

That filthy accusation hit Claire like a slap in the face. In an instant, she lost all her calm and reason.

She did not hesitate. She lifted her hand and slapped Bennett hard across the face.

“Bennett, a dirty mind sees dirt everywhere.”

“You cheated on me and had a child with another woman, so you assume I would cheat too. You assume I’m as filthy as you are.”

“You disgust me.”

The disgust in Claire’s eyes froze Bennett completely in place.

In all the years he had known her, Bennett had never seen her look at him that way.

When she looked at him, her eyes had always been gentle and full of love.

It was as if even if the sky came crashing down, she would still stand firmly by his side and face it with him.

But now…

Bennett clenched his hands into fists. It felt as if thousands of blades had pierced through his heart, leavinghim in unbearable pain.

He seemed rooted to the spot, unable to move. All he could do was watch as Preston led Claire away.

During all the time Bennett had spent searching for her, he had always thought Claire was only angry.

Only now did he suddenly realize the truth.

No.

It was more than that.

Claire really seemed to not want him anymore.

“It hurts, doesn’t it?”

A familiar figure drifted in and out before him.

“I can tell you what will happen in the future.”

“Soon, Claire will fall in love with Preston. They will date, marry, and have children.”

“As for you, the Ford family will be mired in scandal. Then the Foster family will move against you and snatch away countless nine-figure overseas deals. The Ford family will slowly decline, and you won’t be able to bear the pain of falling from the top of the world to rock bottom. So you’ll jump from the eighteenth floorof a high-rise, and your body will be mangled beyond recognition.”

“That is how your story ends.”

“But you have a chance to change it. So are you willing to change?”

Bennett turned around and saw an unbearably familiar face.

“Do you remember me? I’m you, from the future.”
