I Woke Up Seven Years Later And Left My Cheating Husband Chapter 8

Claire felt as if she had been struck by lightning. Her eyes were filled with disbelief.

“What are you so surprised about?”

“At the Ford family banquet tonight, you deliberately arranged for reporters to expose Leo as an illegitimate child. Wasn’t that because you already knew the truth?”

Bennett’s eyes were full of mockery.

“Do you have any idea I had already planned for Leo to be the only child you and I would ever have? But now you’ve completely destroyed his reputation. How is he supposed to grow up with the label of illegitimate child hanging over him?”

“If you wanted to know the truth so badly, why didn’t you ask me yourself? When it comes to you, I’ve never

held anything back.”

He looked at Claire with such shameless openness, as if he had nothing left to hide.

“Leo is my biological son. Mia is his mother.”

“The truth is, while you were lying in the ICU, I was already sleeping with her. Every time we did it on a hospital bed, she felt guilty, as if she had wronged you, and she was so nervous she could barely breathe.”

“Mia was pregnant by the second month after your hysterectomy.”

Claire stood there in a daze. For a moment, the Bennett from seven years in the future seemed to overlap perfectly with the Bennett in front of her.

They had said the same words, with the same brazen confidence and shameless calm.

They felt no shame; if anything, they seemed proud.

At that moment, Claire suddenly realized she had been wrong.

She had once wondered whether her anger and desperation had changed Bennett.

But now she finally understood: no, Bennett had always been Bennett.

He had never changed.

He had only ever loved himself.

Claire’s face went deathly pale. She took a step back, avoiding the hand Bennett reached toward her.

She simply looked at him quietly, and the last trace of warmth in her eyes vanished completely.

Bennett still looked at her calmly. He even smiled a little.

“Are you still going to keep pretending?”

“Claire, even after learning the whole truth, you clung to me for two years and refused to let go or divorce me.”

“Now you’ve only learned everything earlier than before. Do you really think you can bring yourself to leave me?”

A thunderclap exploded beside Claire’s ears, and she finally understood that Bennett, too, had somehow been to the future.

She could not help asking, “When did you…”

Before she could finish, Mia suddenly shoved the door open.

“This is bad, Mr. Ford. The paparazzi followed us to the hospital.”

“The hallway outside is packed with them.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a camera lens pushed through the doorway, aimed directly at Mia and the baby’s faces.

Bennett’s expression darkened, and he immediately shielded them behind him. “Move.”

The scene descended into chaos. Heads and cameras crowded together in a dark, crushing mass. Claire did

not even know when she had been shoved into the crowd. By the time she realized what was happening, she

had already fallen to the floor, and someone stomped hard on her arm.

With a crack, Claire’s arm felt as if it had been snapped underfoot. She let out a scream.

In the crowd, Bennett finally looked back. Their eyes met, but he only spoke coldly.

“Claire, you shouldn’t have kept leaking their whereabouts to the paparazzi.”

“You caused this stampede yourself, so you can suffer the consequences.”

He protected Mia and her son as their figures quickly disappeared at the end of the hallway.

Claire lay collapsed on the floor as people trampled her until both her hands and legs were broken, along

with the bridge of her nose and the ribs in her chest.

Only when someone screamed, “Move! Someone’s underfoot!” did the crowd finally react.

But by then, Claire had already lost consciousness completely.

When she woke again, three days had passed.

Claire struggled to reach her phone and saw 99+ unread messages.

Almost every friend had sent her the same clarification statement.

[Ms. Claire Snow and I divorced one year ago. Ms. Mia Lane and I have been secretly married, and our son is not illegitimate.]

The comments were in total chaos.

[The actual wife got turned into the other woman? What is going on?]

[You’ve got it wrong. She’s clearly the dumped ex-wife trying to force her way back in as the other woman, but the man doesn’t even want her.]

[Is Claire insane? They’re already divorced, and she’s still clinging to him. Have some dignity.]

Claire gripped her phone tightly and gave an extremely mocking smile.

She was clearly the wronged wife, the one who had suffered through everything. But because Bennett had

twisted the truth, she had become the shameless mistress and the woman trying to force her way into someone else’s marriage.

Claire was not too devastated.

She was busy with something else.

A month had passed.

Claire immediately took a cab to the Ford family estate.

After receiving the final divorce decree, she went straight to the airport without stopping.

The plane broke through the clouds. In the final second before she lost signal, she took a photo of the final divorce decree and posted it online.

[Mr. Bennett Ford and I are indeed divorced, but the divorce was only finalized today. That means Ms. Mia Lane was, in fact, the other woman, and that child is, in fact, illegitimate.]
