I slipped my phone into the soup while handing clothes to Liam earlier.

When I arrived at the restaurant, the waitress had already fished my phone out of the soup.

She quickly handed me the still-oily phone.

I wasn’t in a hurry to take it.

“Is it hot?”

The waitress, unaware of my intention to delay, replied, “It’s not hot anymore. You’re lucky. The soup has cooled down, or your phone wouldn’t have survived.”

I frowned, “The phone’s covered in oil, it’s so dirty.”

She rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed, “Do you want it or not?”

I smiled quickly, “Yes, yes, I was just joking.”

I took the phone, wiped it off with a napkin, and after dragging the time on, I slowly made my way home.

Before I even reached the street, I saw the very familiar scene. In my previous life, the driver who hit me stood by the side of the road, jumping around anxiously but never bothering to call the police or an ambulance.

It seemed like panic, but it was just a tactic to buy time.

Unfortunately, I was lucky enough to survive the initial impact.

That was when I felt the excruciating pain, every bone in my body felt like it had been shattered, every muscle torn apart.

This time, as I saw the driver looking so awkward and panicked, I walked quickly to where Liam was barely alive.

I dropped the phone in a hurry and leaned in close to Liam’s ear, grinning. “If there’s a next life, pay attention when you’re walking.”

After I spoke, I saw a tear trickle from the corner of Liam’s eye.

I wiped the tear away. “You’re not a cockroach, are you? How are you still alive after being hit?”

At this moment, I knew Liam only wanted me to call the ambulance — who doesn’t want to survive, right?

So, I comforted him. “Don’t worry, I’ll call the organ donation center. Liam, hold on until they get here and then you can let go. Otherwise, it won’t be fresh anymore!”

He tried to raise his hand but couldn’t.

I stopped smiling and set him down in front of the car.

I walked up to the driver, Monica Fox, for the second time. The first time was in my past life. I saw her frantically pacing, her face pale with fear.

I stepped right up to her and slapped her hard across the face. “How do you drive?”

“I didn’t mean to, my intention was…” Monica started, but then stopped as she realized the mistake she’d made.

“Your intention wasn’t him?” I mocked.

Monica nodded.

I smiled and asked, “Then who was your target? Was it me?”

“I didn’t want to kill anyone. I really didn’t mean to hit him. It was him…”

Monica stammered, not knowing whether she was making an excuse or panicking.

“He tried to crash into my car…”

I slapped her again, this time even harder. “How dare you say my husband was trying to scam you!”

“You were speeding, didn’t turn on your headlights, and if you’d killed my husband, that would be murder.”
