My Husband Let Me Die for the Insurance Money Chapter 04

After being reborn, why would I care anymore?

Soon enough, the day I had been run over in my previous life arrived.

I had just lain down when my phone buzzed with a message—identical to the one I had received before I died.

This time, I calmly opened it and waited as the photo slowly loaded.

When it finally appeared, I glanced at the photo of Liam tangled up with a masseuse from the spa, their bodies pressed tightly together.

In my previous life, rage had driven me out of bed to find out what was going on.

The road outside had been pitch black and completely empty.

As I crossed the street, a black sedan without its headlights suddenly came barreling toward me.

I didn’t even have time to react before the impact sent me flying several feet across the road.

When I crashed onto the asphalt, the screeching tires skidded to a stop inches from my head.

The bumper lifted my legs violently, folding them in impossible angles.

After the accident, Liam stepped out of the darkness.

But instead of checking my injuries, he rushed straight to the driver who had hit me. ”Are you okay? Did that scare you?”

Liam glanced at me, gasping on the ground, and sneered. ”You should’ve hit the brakes harder.”

”Don’t worry,” he said softly to her. ”I won’t let anything happen to you. When the traffic officer shows up, just say she jumped out trying to scam you. You panicked and hit the gas instead of the brake.”

”You haven’t been drinking. At worst, they’ll just question you a few times.”

The horror of my previous life replayed vividly in my mind.

Liam waited downstairs for quite a while.

But this time, I never went down.

Perhaps he finally grew impatient, because my phone rang with a video call.

”Natalie,” he said casually, ”William’s kid was playing with an AI app on my phone earlier while we were drinking. He accidentally generated a fake photo and sent it to you.”

When I didn’t respond, he added, ”You’re not mad, are you?”

I rubbed my eyes as if I had just woken up. ”What are you talking about?”

”Oh—did I wake you?” he said quickly. ”It was just a misunderstanding. Don’t take it seriously.”

”Oh.”

”Why don’t you come downstairs and grab something to eat?” he continued. ”We’re at the food stall right outside.”

I answered lazily, ”No. I’m going back to sleep.”

Liam immediately grew anxious.

”Come on,” he urged. ”And bring me a jacket while you’re at it. The temperature dropped all of a sudden. It’s freezing out here.”

I held back a laugh.

”Alright,” I said sweetly. ”I’ll be right down. Wouldn’t want you catching a cold.”

After hanging up, I noticed a bright red down jacket lying at the foot of my bed.

I had no idea when Liam had placed it there.

I couldn’t help laughing.

Since you’re so impatient, I might as well send you straight to hell.

I picked up the red jacket from the end of the bed and walked out of the apartment.
