The Blind Boy I Picked Up Was the Mafia Don Chapter 08

We somehow made it through that meal. I couldn’t take his burning gaze anymore.

for the meeting.”

During the meeting, everyone asked about Alexander’s right hand.

He answered seriously, “A kitten scratched me.”

“Let’s go.

Time

Lucy looked at me, practically melting into the table, and asked pointedly, “What kitten? Have we met it?”

Alexander: “A Ragdoll.”

I couldn’t help it. With a totally straight face, I kicked him lightly under the table.

After the meeting ended, everyone filed out.

I noticed Alexander wasn’t moving. He hadn’t packed up his things. He wasn’t leaving. His eyes were glued to me, beautiful as the night sea.

“Ma’am, let’s go home.”

I was surprised. “It’s only four.”

Alexander said lightly, “I’m giving everyone the rest of the day off.”

I had a bad feeling about what “going home” might entail. I was about to refuse when he sighed.

“If Ma’am doesn’t come home with me, I’ll be really sad. And when I’m sad, I tend to make my employees work overtime.”

Before I could say anything, a chorus came from outside the meeting room: “Total Donna, go home with him!”

Lucy was yelling the loudest.

They’d all been hiding outside the door, eavesdropping.

I froze.

Some people look alive, but they’ve already died inside.

When we got home, I wanted fruit. Alexander, still in his suit jacket, got cherries out of the fridge and went to wash them.

I snuck a look inside the black bag he’d brought from the convenience store downstairs.

When I saw what was in it, I got up and headed for the door.

As soon as I touched the handle, Alexander’s voice came from behind me. “Ma’am, where are you going?”

“Out for some air. I’ll be back soon.”

Alexander glanced at the opened bag on the table. The second I cracked the door open, he walked over and shut it, leaning lazily against the frame.

“Ma’am, liars aren’t good girls.”

Right in front of me, Alexander slowly took off his suit jacket, loosened his tie, and his eyes went red fast. “Ma’am abandoned me for seven years. Are you trying to abandon me again?”

I weakly protested, “That’s not what I meant…”

A man’s tears are a woman’s fuel.

When Alexander cried, I felt like the whole world owed him something.

Before I knew it, he’d led me into the bedroom.

“Ma’am, you know, when you can’t see, your other senses get sharper. So every time you teased me back then, you were pushing me to my limit.”

I was just starting to feel bad for him

when I realized Alexander was wrapping his tie around my eyes, his voice soft but brooking no refusal.

“Ma’am wasn’t good. You owe me.”

“Seven years. Seven times. Not one less.”

Soft lips met mine. The air in my lungs thinned.

Outside, a light rain began to fall.

From that day on, we would spend every day together.
