The Blind Boy I Picked Up Was the Mafia Don Chapter 07

Alexander shot back, “And you haven’t caught that female assistant of yours yet?”

Isabella laughed. Her nails tapped lightly on the desk. “At least no one left me without a word for seven years.”

“At least I didn’t drink myself into a stomach hemorrhage over someone, almost freeze/to death on the street in winter, or call a disconnected number day and night. Or treat a worthless ring like a treasure.”

“At least I didn’t put banners on every bus and taxi in the city begging someone to come back.”

“Talk all that talk about hating them forever, making them pay-and then the second they show up, you resort to every cheap trick in the book: playing pitiful, seducing them, throwing money at them.”

“Alexander, I regret ever telling my friends that you were the most rational person I knew.”

Wait-was Isabella talking about me???

Alexander rubbed his forehead. “I can’t keep doing the engagement PR thing with you anymore. But

I’ll announce that our families’ partnership will continue.”

“Thank you for that,” Isabella stood up. “My dad was the one who made that betrothal up anyway. I like women. The most important thing is following your own heart instead of making wild guesses. Am I right, little potato hiding under the desk?”

I was so startled at being called out that I forgot about the desktop above me and jerked my head up.

But there was no pain.

Alexander had slid his hand between my head and the desk.

I poked my head out. Isabella was already at the door, muttering, “Straight people are wild.”

“Ma’am, what were you going to say?” Alexander held up my bank card with his uninjured hand.

“There’s a hundred million in there. For the breakup fee.” I stretched my stiff limbs and replied, trembling.

“So you only agreed to eat with me so you could save up enough to leave me?”

I nodded, then shook my head.

Alexander put one hand on the desk, caging me between him and it. His shirt pulled taut over his muscles. He smiled. “I’ll give you one more chance. Break up or not?”

“Is everything Isabella said true?” I couldn’t look him in the eye. He was too close.

“Yeah, it’s true. Emily, you like me, but you’re scared I’m just trying to get revenge. That all the nice things are an act. And you’re afraid of falling too deep, so you’re rushing to get away. Am I right?”

Alexander smiled helplessly and lazily rested his chin on my shoulder. “Ma’am, don’t you know that you can’t fake love? It’s been this long. Don’t you believe me yet?”

He’d hit the nail on the head. I got even more flustered. “That’s nonsense. I don’t like you.”

“Ma’am, then can you explain why you saved every single private photo I sent you, organized by category, with notes like ‘for morning viewing’ and ‘for late-night viewing’…”

My face went crimson. “Alexander, you went through my photo gallery!”

“After lunch yesterday, you forgot to log out. I saw it by accident.”

I was still skeptical. “You say you like me. Then why, when you were blind, did you always resist so much?”

Alexander’s laugh was low, vibrating against my ear. “Ma’am, I was only eighteen back then. Of course I was a little shy.”

“And besides, I wasn’t mad that you were touching me. I was mad because I thought you just wanted my body, not that you actually liked me.”

Maybe if Alexander hadn’t been blind back then, I would have seen the love in his eyes.

But if he hadn’t been blind, we probably never would have crossed paths at all.

Fate is funny that way.

Alexander was eighteen then. Shy as a little bunny.

Now he’s twenty-six. A complete perverted old pro.

It slowly dawned on me. “Alexander, you deliberately invited Isabella to come by at lunchtime. So I would overhear your conversation.”

“Yes,” the old pervert admitted easily. “How else was I supposed to ease your doubts?”

“Ma’am, I admit it. I did want to get back at you. But when you passed out right in front of me, i realized I couldn’t go through with it. I’m sorry I scared you and made you worry. But I really, really like you. So damn much.”

“Ma’am, don’t keep me hanging. Give me an answer. Break up or not? If you break up now, you lose a hundred million. But if you don’t, all my money is yours. If you want, I can have someone drawup the paperwork to transfer everything to you right now.”

Alexander had planned this all out. He never gave me a chance to say no.

Seeing me hesitate, he whispered in my ear, “And of course, I’d be yours too, Ma’am. You’d never have to look at my photos late at night again.”

“Alexander.” I smacked his arm.

He pouted, rubbing his now even redder right hand. “Ow…”

“Are you okay?” Guilt washed over me.

“No. Can’t feed myself. You have to do it.”

“…Fine.”

People walked by the frosted window. Every time I fed Alexander, my heart jumped.
