Amber twisted my arm. “Sign it. And the IOU too.”

She was so rough. Why did she keep hitting people?

Stacy opened to the signature page and held out a pen.

“Two hundred thousand—that’s ten percent of the loss. The company’s being generous. Don’t make this harder than it has to be.”

I shook my head hard. “Mom says minors can’t drink. Alcohol is bad for health. I don’t drink.”

Stacy wrinkled her nose. “Who hired this clown? Does she not speak English? If you don’t sign, you’re getting sued.”

“Stacy, stop wasting breath on her.” Amber grabbed my hand, pressed my finger onto an ink pad, and slammed it on the contract. “There. Done.”

Suddenly someone complained from the doorway.

“Stacy, I told you to get me an assistant. Where is he?”

That guy looked familiar.

He’s the one who delivered documents to my house. Graham Foster.

Our eyes met.

He blurted out, “Miss Caldwell? What are you doing here?”

Amber and Stacy stared at each other.

I ran behind Graham.

“Graham, you know this girl who lost the deal? We were about to make her sign and leave.”

Graham looked back at me, confused. I held onto his sleeve, shaking.

He slapped his forehead. “What did you do to her? Do you know who she is?”

Amber rolled her eyes. “She’s some junior clerk in sales. I heard she has a sugar daddy in the company. I hate those types.”

Graham slammed the table. “Wrong. All wrong. She’s not an employee. She’s Mr. Caldwell’s daughter!”

“Impossible. Everyone knows Mr. Caldwell isn’t married. Don’t talk crap, Graham.”

Amber had a bright idea. “I get it!” She pointed at Graham. “You’re the sugar daddy!”

Stacy gave Amber a thumbs-up. Smart girl.

Graham broke into a sweat. These two women were so wrong.

How could he ever be Miss Caldwell’s sugar daddy? He wasn’t worthy.

Stacy smirked. “Graham, you always seemed so honest. So you keep a mistress too?”

Graham was furious. “Stacy, watch your mouth. If Mr. Caldwell hears that, you’re done.”

He wanted to say something nice to me, then noticed the two red, swollen finger marks on my face and my messy hair.

“Miss Caldwell, who… who dared to hit you like this?”

Before I could answer, Amber raised her hand. “Me. So what? I’m doing my job. Don’t try to protect her. Let Mr. Caldwell judge.”

Graham’s vision went dark. “You’re in deep trouble. When Mr. Caldwell finds out, we’re all dead.”

He carefully coaxed me. “Miss Caldwell, they’ve got no clue who you are. Don’t even waste your time on them. Let’s get you home.”

I nodded, miserable.

Graham led me out.

Amber chased after us and blocked the way. “She can’t leave. She stole confidential files from the two-hundred-million-dollar project.”

Employees turned to stare.

Graham stomped his foot. “Amber, that’s ridiculous. Why would Miss Caldwell take files?”

Amber sneered. “I say she did. Strip search.”

She reached for my pants.

I screamed in terror. “Don’t touch me! Mom, I’m scared!”

Graham tried to block her and took a slap to the face instead.

Amber rolled up her sleeves and called to her coworkers. “What are you waiting for? If we don’t find that two-hundred-million-dollar project file, you’ll all be fired!”

She used the CEO’s name to scare them. Everyone rushed to grab my clothes.

I panicked, dropped to my knees, and sobbed.
