They Bullied The CEO’s Daughter Without Knowing Who I Was Chapter 05
Nolan left. My last hope was gone.
Amber stormed into the supply closet, her face dark.
“Were you trying to seduce Mr. Chase? Bad move. He’s an upright man. He hates sluts like you.”
I shook my head. I never tried to seduce anyone.
I wanted to go home. I wanted Mom and Dad.
Amber leaned close. “Just in case, I need evidence.”
She raised her phone and started taking pictures of my face.
The flash hurt my eyes.
I reflexively raised my hand. Amber got angry. “You’re fighting back?”
“I’m posting you online. The whole industry will see your face. No one will ever hire you.”
No!
Mom said to protect my privacy. My face could never be posted. Mom and Dad had kept me hidden all these years.
I screamed. “Don’t film me!”
Amber jumped and dropped her phone.
She looked crushed. “My new iPhone 17. Are you serious?”
She switched to livestream. “Look, everyone! This trash bag tried to seduce our CEO. She blew a fifty-million-dollar deal, stole a three-hundred-million-dollar file, and almost got hundreds of people fired.”
“That’s a lie. You’re making it up.”
Amber loved her own exaggeration.
The comments exploded. [What a nightmare coworker. Ruins everything.]
[Can’t do her job, so she becomes a homeworker.]
[She’s pretty though. Doesn’t she look a bit like Vivienne Ashford? I remember the early Caldwell Group ads used Vivienne. I heard she’s Reid Caldwell’s first love.]
Jealousy flashed in Amber’s eyes. “Vivienne’s old and ugly. She’s not good enough for our Mr. Caldwell.”
Hearing her trash my mom, I screamed, “Don’t talk about my mother like that!”
The commenters freaked out.
[Did she just call Vivienne Ashford her mom?]
Amber waved it off. “Vivienne is thirty-seven. No way she has a daughter this old.”
She thought for a second. “Unless Vivienne is a slut who had a baby out of wedlock when she was young.”
I shouted back. “My mother is not! My dad loves her. I’m only—”
Amber shoved a rag in my mouth. She declared solemnly, “I’m not letting Vivienne or this little slut anywhere near Mr. Caldwell. I’ll protect his reputation with my life.”
Her touching speech made the comments swoon.
[This is like a novel. The devoted CEO and his brave secretary.]
[Someone write this. I ship them.]
In that lonely corner, I could barely breathe. The tiny space made the air disappear.
Amber blushed and held her face. “Thanks for the support. I’ll take good care of Mr. Caldwell.”
Then a sharp-eyed comment appeared.
“Isn’t that a smart watch on her wrist?”
People noticed my watch.
They recognized it as Caldwell Group’s exclusive custom edition. Only one in the world.
“I don’t think this model was ever released. Isn’t Vivienne Ashford the watch spokesperson? She posted the exact same watch on her social media.”
Amber grabbed my wrist. I turned red, gasping for air.
She quickly denied it. “It’s not what you think. It’s just… just a regular smartwatch.”
“She looks way too old to be a kid.”
She patted my face. “Wake up. Tell everyone that thing on your wrist isn’t anything special.”
