I Saw The Comments Calling Me Evil And Realized I Was Pregnant Chapter 05
I froze in place.
The boarding pass slipped from my fingers.
The airport intercom kept repeating, “Ms. Khloe Warren, please proceed immediately to Gate 1 upon hearing this announcement…”
The comments exploded:
[He’s here, he’s here!]
[The ML got his memory back! He grounded all the flights!]
[Oh my god, the financial power of the billionaire!]
[Is the ML tracking down the villainess to settle the score?]
[I don’t think so…]
My whole body went rigid as I turned around.
Over by the security checkpoint, the crowd parted automatically.
A man wearing a black overcoat walked toward me with long strides.
His face was cold and stern, but his eyes were rimmed with red.
It was Nash.
Yet, he didn’t quite look like Nash.
He wore a tailored overcoat I had never seen before, a Patek Philippe watch rested on his wrist, and the aura surrounding him made him seem like a completely different person from the man who hauled bricks and ran food deliveries in the rain.
He stopped right in front of me, grabbing my wrist in a tight grip, his voice raspy, “Khloe, what are you running for?”
My legs went soft, and I almost fell to my knees.
He caught me.
His hands were shaking.
“I… I wasn’t running,” my voice trembled violently, “I was just… going out to clear my head.”
Nash stared down at me, his eyes completely bloodshot, “To clear your head? By blocking my number on everything? By canceling the durian I reserved? Khloe, do you take me for a three-year-old?”
My mouth opened, but no words came out.
He took a deep breath, dragging me along as he headed straight outside.
“Where… where are you taking me?” I panicked.
“Home.”
“Which home?”
He didn’t answer.
A black Maybach was parked right outside the airport, with two bodyguards in black suits standing beside the car.
I had never sat in a car like this before.
Nash shoved me into the backseat, sliding in right after me, and told the driver, “Back to the Rothschild Manor.”
The car started up.
I shrank into the corner of the seat, not daring to look at him.
He had regained his memory, so he must remember absolutely everything now.
He remembered how I lied to him about the fifty-thousand-dollar medical bill, how I yelled at him and hit him every single day, and how I called him a useless loser.
He must absolutely hate me.
Maybe he was taking me back to make me pay, little by little.
[Ah, the ML is so cool!]
[Wait, is he taking the villainess back for revenge?]
[Probably not, look how red his eyes are. He’s too busy hurting for her.]
[Did you guys forget? In the original story, the very first thing the ML did after regaining his memory was throw the villainess into prison!]
[That was the original story! The plot has clearly changed here!]
The more I thought about it, the more terrified I became, and tears began to fall.
Then Nash suddenly reached out and pulled me toward him.
I crashed right into his chest.
His chin rested on the top of my head, his voice sounding muffled, “What are you crying for?”
“Are… are you trying to get revenge on me?” I asked between sobs.
He stayed silent for a few seconds.
Then, he wrapped his arms around me even tighter.
“Khloe, you know what,” his voice was incredibly low, “the moment my memories came back, the very first thing I did was check where you were. I was terrified you’d run away.”
“I didn’t ignore your calls on purpose that night. Lilith intercepted my phone, and all incoming calls were forwarded to her. By the time I dealt with it, you had already blocked me.”
I froze. “You… you don’t hate me?”
“Hate you for what?”
“For lying to you. I made up that fifty thousand dollars. There was no medical bill at all. I just saw how handsome you were and assumed you were rich…”
Nash looked down at me, his expression complex. “I know.”
“What?”
“I’ve known for a long time,” he paused, “By the third month of my amnesia, I went to the hospital to check. There was absolutely no record of you covering any medical bills in the admission files.”
I was completely dumbfounded, “You… you knew all along? Then why did you still…”
“Why was I still so good to you?” He let out a bitter laugh, “Khloe, even though you have a bad temper, love to yell, and kick me out whenever you feel like it, you never actually left me. I did hard labor, ran deliveries, and lived in a rental apartment. You cursed at me, sure, but you still stayed with me.”
“And…” he paused again, “didn’t you change recently? You returned the durian, tried to learn how to cook, and said you didn’t want me to work so hard. You weren’t faking that, were you?”
My tears poured down. “But I hit you before…”
“You didn’t hit me, you just threw pillows and pulled my ears,” he ran a hand through my hair, “It was bearable.”
[What? He knew the entire time! This is a real alpha CEO!]
[Ah, I’m screaming at this ship!]
[The villainess needs to tell the truth right now, stop hiding things.]
I was crying too hard to speak, so I could only bury myself deeper into his chest.
The car came to a stop in front of a massive mansion.
Nash held my hand as we got out, “Let’s go see my grandpa first.”
“Who…” My legs went soft again.
“My grandfather. Karter Rothschild.”
“No! I’m not going!” I shrank back, “He’ll definitely look down on me. I’m just a nurse, and I lied to you…”
Nash pulled me back to his side, “If he looks down on you, I’ll leave with you.”
“You…”
“Khloe, the thing I fear most in this life is you not wanting me,” he looked at me, a light shining in his eyes, “Can you please stop running away?”
I looked into his eyes.
Those eyes were the same as when he was doing hard labor at the construction site – clean, earnest, without a trace of pretense.
I grit my teeth, “Okay.”
