I Saw The Comments Calling Me Evil And Realized I Was Pregnant Chapter 07

After staying at the Rothschild Manor for three days, I lost two pounds.

It wasn’t because the food was bad.

It was because I was bombarded every single day by a rotating shift of etiquette teachers and image consultants.

Karter said that since I was going to marry his grandson, I couldn’t embarrass them.

I gritted my teeth and pushed through the lessons.

Standing posture, sitting posture, dining etiquette, and social diplomacy.

My mind wasn’t exactly sharp to begin with, and the intense learning sessions left me completely dizzy.

Every night, Nash would come to check on me, and whenever he found me asleep at the desk, he would carry me over to the bed.

One night I woke up and found him still awake, sitting by the edge of the bed and staring at me.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?” I asked sleepily.

“Just watching you,” his voice was incredibly soft, “Back in the rental, did you use to watch me like this too?”

I thought about it.

Back in that cramped apartment, I would often wake up in the middle of the night and see him curled up on the very edge of the mattress, terrified of crowding me.

At the time, I used to think about how foolish this man was.

Only now did I realize that the foolish one was me.

“Nash,” I took hold of his hand, “When I used to scream at you and hit you, did you ever think about leaving me?”

He pondered it for a moment, “No.”

“Why?”

“Because you only had me,” he looked at me, “You told me your mother passed away early, your father remarried and didn’t care about you anymore, and that you didn’t have a home. I had nothing at the time, but I wanted to give you a home.”

A wave of emotion hit me, and I wanted to cry again. “But I treated you so terribly…”

“Didn’t you say something to me once?” He smiled faintly, “You said, ‘My life is already a mess anyway, so I’ll just stay with whoever treats me well.”

“I said that?” I couldn’t remember.

“You did. You drank too much that day and cried in my arms,” he gently ran his hand through my hair. “From that moment on, I knew you weren’t a bad person. You just didn’t know how to treat someone well.”

I burst into floods of tears.

[Ah, this man is way too good!]

[What did the villainess do in her past life to deserve this? Save the universe?]

[Actually, the villainess has her good points, too. She knew she was wrong and is genuinely trying to change.]

[Compared to the original story, the villainess in this version is actually really great.]

The next day, while I was practicing flower arrangement, the butler suddenly entered, “Miss Warren, Miss Sterling is here.”

Lilith?

What was she doing here?

Before I could even speak, she marched right into the room.

She was still dressed in haute couture, holding her luxury bag, her chin tilted high.

However, her expression lacked the composure she had last time.

She looked a bit panicked, a bit furious.

“Khloe, you’re really something,” she sneered, “Making Nash freeze all my bank accounts and even calling the police to investigate my family. Are you satisfied now?”

I set down the flowers in my hands, “I wasn’t the one who made him do it. You brought these consequences upon yourself because of what you did.”

“Huh, stop playing the saint.” She stepped closer to me, “Do you honestly think the Rothschild family will ever accept you? You’re a fraud, a shrew who screams at and beats her man. Do you think you’re in his league?”

My heart tightened.

But this time, I didn’t back down.

“Whether I’m in his league isn’t up to you,” I looked directly into her eyes, “I did do terrible things in the past, but I’m changing. What about you? You caused Nash’s amnesia, hired someone to run me over, and tried to drive me away. Have you changed at all?”

Lilith’s face turned completely pale. “You…”

“Miss Sterling,” Nash’s voice echoed from the doorway, “You have unlawfully entered a private residence. I have already called the police.”

Lilith whipped around.

Nash stood at the doorway, flanked by two police officers.

“Nash, you…” Lilith’s face went stark white.

“Lilith, you are a suspect in a case involving intentional assault, false imprisonment, and fraud. The police have already filed the charges,” Nash stated without any expression, “Every single word you say right now will be used against you in court.”

Lilith was escorted away.

Before leaving, she threw one last look over her shoulder at me, her eyes filled with pure hatred and resentment. “Khloe, don’t get too smug. You’re not in his league, and he’ll regret this sooner or later.”

I remained silent.

Nash walked over, wrapping an arm around my shoulders, “Ignore her.”

I leaned against his chest, my heart still racing rapidly.

I knew I wasn’t in his league.

But I would work as hard as I could to become worthy of him.
