I Saw The Comments Calling Me Ugly And Jumped Him In The Shower Chapter 07
I honestly thought I’d handled everything pretty well.
I’d done everything I reasonably could.
At this point, my only hope was that when we divorced, Cassius would give me a generous settlement.
Just like the comments said. If I couldn’t have the man, getting some money out of it wasn’t the worst consolation prize.
I was lying in bed, trying to distract myself with a video game, when a message from Mateo popped up.
He said he’d finished work and asked whether Cassius and I were free to join him for dinner.
I told him Cassius was away on a business trip and I was home alone.
He sent a photo of a table full of food.
[If you don’t mind, you can come by yourself.]
Sitting at home would only leave me trapped in my own thoughts, so I immediately called a cab and headed to the restaurant.
Setting the family connection aside, Mateo was genuinely a great friend.
He spoke calmly, never rushed conversations, and always seemed to know exactly how to make people comfortable.
After realizing I didn’t like onions, he’d even had several dishes replaced with braised beef I actually enjoyed.
The meal was pleasant enough that I snapped a photo and posted it.
[Thanks to my cousin for dinner.]
Since Cassius never looked at my social media anyway, I didn’t bother hiding it from anyone.
What I didn’t expect was for a violent storm to roll in around eleven that night.
Rain pounded against the windows while wind howled outside.
I’d just finished showering and was about to go to bed when I heard a noise downstairs.
Assuming the wind had knocked something over, I grabbed my phone flashlight and went to check.
Instead, I found a soaked figure standing by the door. His face looked terrifyingly dark.
The moment he saw me, Cassius crossed the distance between us in a few strides.
He pinned me against the wall, his eyes bloodshot. “Because I wouldn’t let you touch me that day, you went looking for another man? Delilah, how could you do this to me?”
Before I could react, he pulled me tightly into his arms as though I were something precious.
His kisses fell without warning.
“Delilah, don’t fall for someone else. I was wrong. Can you give me a chance?”
Cassius kissed my lips and neck crazily, almost like he was devouring them.
His arms trembled violently as he held me, yet he was determined to undo my buttons.
My mind turned completely blank under the heat of it all.
I barely managed to create a little space between us. “No… you said we’re just husband and wife in name only…”
But he just lifted me effortlessly and carried me straight to the bedroom.
Standing beside the bed, he tugged off his shirt in a few quick motions.
Then he leaned over me again, taking my hand and pressing it against his stomach.
“To hell with partnership. You’re my wife. I’m your husband. We can do whatever we want.”
He was forceful, determined, leaving me little room to think. Part of me wanted to object.
Then I remembered my original plan. If this man was destined to belong to someone else someday, I wasn’t about to walk away without taking what I’d always wanted.
My resistance slowly faded and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
Cassius was ridiculously handsome. Even in the darkness, every sharp line of his face remained breathtaking.
He took my hand and slowly guided it from his chest muscles all the way down to his belt.
A long, long sigh escaped him.
“Delilah… how could you ever think that I wouldn’t like your touch…”
The storm raged outside all night, and inside, the passion took a long time to die down.
The next morning, my entire body ached as though I’d been run over by a truck.
Cassius was wrapped around me from behind, holding me tightly against his chest.
He was sleeping deeply, clearly exhausted.
I reached for my phone and discovered that Mateo had liked my post.
There was also a new friend request.
The profile picture belonged to Jade.
The second I accepted it, a message arrived: [Hello, Ms. Quinn. Is Mr. Quinn at home? He disappeared after signing a contract yesterday. He hasn’t answered my calls or messages, and I’m worried something may have happened to him.]
The concern hidden between the lines was impossible to miss.
I stared at the screen, speechless.
Delilah: [Yes. He’s asleep.]
Jade: [That’s good to hear. Then I won’t disturb you any further. Good day.]
I set down my phone.
When I looked up again, the comments flooding my vision had become so dense with insults directed at me that they were practically unreadable.
