I Woke Up Seven Years Later And Left My Cheating Husband Chapter 9

When Bennett learned that Claire had woken up, he let out a breath of relief.

That day, he had thought that although there were many people, they were at a hospital after all. Even if

something happened, how serious could it be?

But after he posted the clarification statement, he saw the trending news online. Central Medical Center had

suffered a severe crowd crush with one person dead and two seriously injured. Claire was one of the

seriously injured.

Over the past two days, Bennett had poured nearly every medical resource in the city into her alone. At last,

she was out of danger and her life was no longer at risk.

“It’s good that she’s awake.” Bennett rubbed his brow. “I’ll come by in a bit.”

His assistant hesitated. “Mr. Ford, Mrs. Ford…”

Before he could finish, Mia suddenly cried out behind Bennett.

“Leo! What’s wrong?”

Bennett immediately hung up and rushed over.

Leo’s face was bright red, and he kept sneezing. He was clearly having an allergic reaction.

Bennett picked him up at once. “We’re going to the hospital.”

But when he reached the door, his movements suddenly stopped.

He remembered something and glanced back.

¡

A few fresh bone-in chicken pieces were sitting on the kitchen counter. He had asked the housekeeper to buy them so he could make chicken soup for Claire.

He did not know how to cook. The only time he had ever cooked was years ago, when Claire had a fever and kept vomiting, unable to keep anything down.

He had tried making a pot of chicken soup. To his surprise, Claire had actually drunk it.

After that, he made chicken soup for her seven days in a row.

No matter what, he was the one at fault for what had happened to her this time, so Bennett wanted to make her some chicken soup to comfort her.

But if he left now, he had no idea when he would be able to finish the soup.

After a moment of hesitation, Bennett handed the child to Mia.

“You take him to the hospital first. I’ll come after I finish this.”

Mia lowered her eyes, hiding the flash of malice that passed through them.

She did not say anything else. Holding the child, she immediately turned and left.

Bennett spent a full three hours making the chicken soup. Then he packed it up and took it with him to the hospital.

He went to Claire’s hospital room first. But when he pushed open the door, the room was empty.

The blanket was folded neatly and properly, as if no one had been staying there at all.

A strange unease flashed through Bennett’s chest.

Was she not here?

Bennett quickly stopped a passing nurse. “Excuse me, where is the patient in this room?”

“I’m not sure. She was here just a little while ago.” The nurse looked around. “Maybe she went to get water.

She doesn’t have any family with her, so everything is inconvenient.”

Bennett immediately felt relieved and turned toward the water station.

But after only a few steps, his phone rang. Mia’s anxious voice came through.

“M-Mr. Ford, the doctor says Leo’s condition is very bad. When are you coming?”

Bennett could no longer worry about Claire. He immediately went to the ER.

Leo’s face had already swollen so badly that his eyes were narrowed into slits.

Bennett’s expression darkened. “He’s been here this long. Why hasn’t he been treated?”

The young ER nurse trembled and hurriedly explained, “Sir, it’s not that we haven’t treated him. Your child’s allergic reaction is unusually severe.”

After a pause, she muttered quietly, “I think it’s strange too. What could he have touched to have such a severe reaction?”

“Admit him first.” Bennett immediately made a call. “Have all of your hospital’s top specialists come over.”

Bennett did not rest the entire night. He stayed by Leo’s side the whole time.

As for the chicken soup he had made especially for Claire, he had someone deliver it to her hospital room.

At last, as dawn began to break, Leo’s condition stabilized.

Bennett let out a breath of relief and hurried back to Claire’s side.

When he pushed the door open, the first thing he saw was the insulated food container on the table, its lid already removed.

A man in his forties was sitting nearby, drinking soup.

And what he was drinking was the chicken soup Bennett had made with his own hands.

Bennett’s face darkened. He immediately rushed forward and snatched the bowl away.

“Who gave you permission to touch this soup?”

The man froze. “This soup was sent to my room. Why wouldn’t I touch it?”

This was his room?

Bennett’s heart sank sharply as he suddenly realized something.

“What do you mean, your room? This is clearly Claire’s room.”

A nurse passing by suddenly understood. “Oh, you’re looking for Ms. Snow? She was discharged yesterday.”

The unease in Bennett’s chest expanded violently at that moment.

His face cold, he took out his phone and called his assistant.

“Why wasn’t I told that Claire was discharged?”

His assistant could not hide his shock. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ford. I thought you already knew.”

“After all, the news that you and Mrs. Ford… no, that you and Ms. Snow are divorced has already spread

everywhere.”
