I Woke Up Seven Years Later And Left My Cheating Husband Chapter 06

His eyes darkened as he stared hard at Claire, as if testing her.

“What do you mean?”

Claire lifted the half-burned medal and gave a mocking smile.

“You burned the blessed medal my mother left me for this child. How exactly am I supposed to like him?”

Bennett first seemed to relax. Then a trace of anger surfaced on his face.

“Claire! How can a dead person matter more than someone who’s alive?”

“It was just a lifeless object. Leo is a living, breathing little child!”

“Even now, you still don’t understand?”

Claire shook her head without hesitation. “I don’t understand, and I don’t want to.”

Bennett’s expression turned completely cold. “Fine. Fine. In that case, stay home until you do understand.”

“Someone take Mrs. Ford back to her room. Without my permission, no one is allowed to let her out.”

After saying that, he carried the baby and rushed out.

“Contact the hospital immediately. Get their best dermatologist. I won’t let the baby scar.”

The pain in Claire’s hands pulled her back to herself.

She lowered her head and saw the bloody, raw burns along both of her arms. A self-mocking smile tugged at her lips.

Bennett had not even noticed how badly she had been burned.

Claire was pushed back into the master bedroom, and the door was locked from the outside.

Leaning against the cold door, she asked in a hoarse voice, “Can you call a doctor?”

The bodyguard answered stiffly, “Mrs. Ford, that requires Mr. Ford’s approval.”

Claire lowered her request. “Then can you buy me some burn cream?”

The bodyguard gave the same answer. “That requires Mr. Ford’s approval.”

No matter what she said, she received the same response.

Claire could only smear toothpaste over the wounds to dull the pain for a while.

For two full days and nights, aside from the meals delivered on schedule, Claire was cut off from all contact with the outside world.

Just when she thought she might be locked in there forever, the bedroom curtains suddenly burst into flames

Thick smoke rolled through the room and swallowed Claire before she could react.

She rushed to the door and pounded on it with all her strength. “Let me out! There’s a fire in here!”

But from outside the door came the same reply.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Ford. That requires Mr. Ford’s approval.”

Claire let out a furious shout.

“Then call him!”

Soon, Bennett’s voice came through.

“Has she come to her senses?”

The bodyguard replied, “No, but Mrs. Ford’s room is on-”

Before he could finish, Bennett cut him off.

“I said she gets out when she comes to her senses.”

“Claire, are you really going to keep being this stubborn?”

Claire wanted to answer, but she no longer had the strength.

She watched helplessly as the fire scorched the skin all over her body. She could clearly smell her own flesh burning. Finally, as Bennett hung up without hesitation, she lost consciousness completely and passed out.
